SAM Stockley says America can wait if Wanderers need him for their promotion tilt this season.
The 30-year-old ex-Colchester and Barnet ace made a big impression on MLS side FC Dallas during a three-day trial last week and sees his next move being to the States.
But the defender, who has not started a Blues match since Boxing Day, says he will happily put his American dream on hold if Wycombe are not prepared to release him early from his contract which expires in the summer.
He said: "I've been thinking about America for a long time and as I've got older it's become more intriguing. I'd like to play there. It's a new challenge and an opportunity of a lifetime but if it doesn't happen now I'll have another go when the timing is right."
He is now waiting to hear from Dallas head coach, the former Arsenal player Steve Morrow.
If they offer him a deal, Blues boss Paul Lambert will discuss it with Stockley.
Lambert said: "We will cross that bridge when we come to it, he hasn't had an offer yet."
Stockley said: "What will be will be. I haven't looked past the trial yet. Going to America has given me an extra spring in my step."
He added: "I'm happy here and if I get an offer and Wycombe say I can't go, I won't be disappointed because if Dallas or any other club in the MLS want me they'll have to have me when it is right for Wycombe and I accept that."
Stockley was impressed by Dallas and is keen to play there some time.
He said: "The standard is decent championship level and the set-up is mind-blowing. They had 17 pitches there and the ground is fantastic."
Stockley, was given permission to miss last Saturday's defeat at home to Mansfield and then wasn't included in the final 16 for the draw at Bury on Tuesday having only flown back 24 hours earlier.
The American season starts on March 20. The American transfer window shuts on April 15 and reopens again from May to July for two months.
