WASPS and England star Paul Sackey has backed Danny Cipriani to bounce back from his error in England's 23-19 victory over Italy on Sunday.
Cipriani replaced Jonny Wilkinson at fly-half with 13 minutes of England's Six Nations match in Rome remaining.
But it was his mistake, a charged down kick for an Italian try, that allowed the hosts to mount a late rally which nearly cost England the game.
Sackey, who crossed for one of England's two tries, said: "If it had come off he might have been a hero. If you try things, you will slip up from time to time but Danny is a strong boy and he will get through it.
"It is a harsh learning experience because it has happened at the highest level.
"If the same thing had happened at Wasps then it would be a different story, but he seemed all right after the game and he will soon bounce back."
