Wycombe Wanderers will play Northampton Town in the first round the League Cup.
The Chairboys will travel to Sixfields Stadium in August for what will be the first meeting between the two clubs since September 2018, which was a Football League Trophy that Gareth Ainsworth’s men won 1-0.

The Wanderers boss will also be returning to the stadium where he made his final appearance as a professional footballer.

The two sides met previously in this competition in August 2018 when Wanderers won through on spot-kicks following a 1-1 draw at Adams Park https://t.co/8f9eL4KBIM
The then 43-year-old came off the bench for the final five minutes for the Chairboys’ 3-0 victory over the Cobblers in August 2016, after the club had a shortage of players for the match.
His cameo appearance saw the winger set up Garry Thompson for the third and final goal of the night.

Each of the last three fixtures between Wycombe Wanderers and Northampton Town have been in cup competitions, with this being only the second time the two would have played each in this contest.
The previous battle was in August 2018, which saw Wycombe defeat their opponents 7-6 on penalties following a 1-1 draw at Adams Park.
Randell Williams got Wycombe’s goal that day.
Ticket information will be released in due course with the fixture taking place the week commencing August 8.
