Gareth Ainsworth believes that despite Fleetwood’s positive play, Wycombe deserved all three points in their 1-0 win over the relegation battlers.
Jason McCarthy popped up to score his first goal at Adams Park in just over two years to seal the win for Wanderers, as they are now unbeaten in four matches, winning three of them.

The boss said: “The way we finished the game was very strong and again in the second half, it was very similar to Saturday as we really took it to them.
“It was evens during the first half as they had some really good chances and David Stockdale has had to make several important saves.
“But on the whole, I think there was one team that edged it and that was us.

“We got our goal but I think we had other chances to get it and looking at the goal, I think it was potentially harsh on their goalkeeper but you get those decisions sometimes and you need to take them when you can.
“Jason McCarthy is out 20th different goal scorer this season which is a fantastic record to have.

“We needed these three points and I’m pleased we got them.”
The victory has put Wanderers on 65 points for the season, as they are just a point behind Sunderland, who occupy the last play-off place.
Wycombe have also played a game less.
