Jason McCarthy scored a 90th-minute winner as Wycombe left it late to secure an important 1-0 victory over relegation-threatened Fleetwood Town.
It looked like Wanderers were going to record their second straight scoreless draw at home, but the right-back's first goal of the season has given the Chairboys a real boost for their promotion chances.
The away side started the first 10 minutes the better as they easily could have been 3-0 up inside the opening quarter.
First, Dan Butterworth, who caused the Wanderers backline countless problems, ran 50-yards with the ball unchallenged before he unleashed a fierce low attempt that Stockdale had to palm away.
A warning for the Wanderers on three minutes.

Chances galore for both sides but it remains scoreless. Wanderers the better team, but only just. Town have shown they are not afraid to get forward. #Chairboys #FTFC
Eight minutes later, Paddy Lane tested the fan favourite in between the sticks with a bending effort from 18-yards but thankfully, Stockdale was on hand to deny the Cod Army what would have been a brilliant goal.
It was getting a bit concerning for the home side as Fleetwood again went on the attack but again, Butterworth failed to score as his shot from close range went inches wide.
Wycombe needed to wake up, and they duly did.
On 16 minutes, Sam Vokes saw his half-volley from range go over, before Anis Mehmeti and Lewis Wing also tried their luck 120 seconds later.
But again, their shots went over Kieran O’Hara’s goal.
72 - Sub for Wycombe as Wing makes way for Jack Young. It's the latter's league debut following his loan move from Newcastle in January. #Chairboys #FTFC

Fleetwood then decided it was their go to have a pop at goal but again, Butterworth, who could have had a hat-trick, saw his cross/shot go inches wide on 22 minutes.
It was end-to-end stuff but no chances were being converted and on the half-hour mark, the best effort of the game fell to Garath McCleary, but to no avail.
After he was put through brilliantly by Daryl Horgan, the Jamaican international was one-on-one with the O’Hara in the Fleetwood goal.
However, the 25-year-old, in what was only his second appearance for the Cod Army, made himself big to smother McCleary’s shot away.
A huge chance not taken.
Horgan and Mehmeti again went close in the dying embers of the opening half, but scoreless it was at the break.
88 - HOW HAS HE MISSED?! Hanlan goes round O'Hara and has the goal at his mercy, but he smashes it high and wide. Golden chance gone. #Chairboys #FTFC

The second half was not as fluid as the first but once again, Wycombe had several chances to kill off Fleetwood but failed to take them.
First, Mehmeti’s cross was palmed away by O’Hara, but Wing could only fire the rebound wide, whilst Anthony Stewart headed over a Joe Jacobson free-kick.
The introduction of Adebayo Akinfenwa, Brandon Hanlan and Jack Young, with the latter making his league debut for the club put more pressure onto the visitor’s defence, but they were resilient and kept their shape well.
With two minutes to go, Hanlan rounded O’Hara and had the goal at his mercy, but the striker, who was off-balance, blazed the shot high and wide.
90 - I DON'T BLOODY BELIEVE IT! JASON McCARTHY YOU BEAUTY!!!!! #Chairboys #FTFC

But in the final minute, there was McCarthy to tuck it in from close range to seal the win.
Up next is Portsmouth away on Saturday.
