Wycombe Wanderers’ Boxing Day fixture against Cambridge United has been postponed because a number of the opposition's players have caught Covid-19.
Cambridge United reportedly informed the EFL that it would be unable to fulfil the fixture at Adams Park due to a number of positive Covid-19 cases in their squad.
A rearranged date for the fixture is set to be confirmed soon.
All tickets will remain valid for the new date; refunds can be arranged by emailing tickets@wwfc.com with the transaction number and the number of tickets to be refunded and refunds will be processed within 14 working days from January 4.
In light of the increased transmission rate of the Omicron variant, the EFL says it will now "review the circumstances surrounding the postponement" and will assist affected clubs throughout this "challenging period" to help them mitigate against the risk of infection amongst players and staff.
Chairboys manager Gareth Ainsworth said: "It's a real shame that we've lost this game - and the Bolton one - due to Covid cases in the opposition squads, but these things happen and we wish all players affected a speedy recovery.
"We've been fortunate to largely keep Covid at bay from our squad, and I have to give great credit to our medical team for managing the protocols to make sure that we were ready and raring to go. We'll keep working hard in training for the next game and to keep our strong season on track."
