Wycombe boss Gareth Ainsworth has insisted that his side need to have ‘intensity and professionalism’ for this weekend’s match against Doncaster Rovers.

The Chairboys travel up to the Keepmoat Stadium on Saturday to face their opponents who are currently bottom of the League One table with two wins from their 10 games played this season.

They have also lost seven of those matches, but Richie Wellens’, who took over as manager in the summer, saw his side beat promotion-pushing MK Dons in their previous match.

The win over the North Bucks side could be the catalyst to kick start their season, with Ainsworth admitting that his side need to be ‘wary’ of Doncaster.

He said: “Doncaster Rovers are a good side and they have got some really good players.

“They are finding their feet, and they beat MK Dons last week which is a big scalp for them and they have tinkered a bit with their style so we will be wary of that, as well as Rotherham on the Tuesday night.

“We’ve got two big games coming up and we are taking them as seriously as we can at the moment.

Just because Doncaster are bottom and Rotherham are up there with us, it doesn’t mean they’ll be two different games.

“You cannot take anyone lightly in this league, whether they are 24th or top.

“We have got to approach every game with the same intensity and professionalism and we will do that.”

The boss also wants his side to improve their away form if they are in for a chance for promotion.

Wanderers are currently enjoying their best ever unbeaten home league run with seven wins on the bounce, but, have only won twice away from Adams Park this season.

Those victories were against Cheltenham Town and Shrewsbury Town respectively, with Wanderers drawing to Wigan Athletic and Oxford United and losing to Sunderland and MK Dons so far this campaign.

He continued: “We want to get this away form on track.

“In the early years, we were renowned for our great away form, but I prefer the way it is now, with the home form.

“We’re building blocks and if you can pick points away from home everything else is a bonus after that.

“Not being beat away from home is key on the basis that you win your home games.”

The match will kick-off at 3pm.
