Wycombe manager Gareth Ainsworth has praised several of the Cardiff City players after the Chairboys defeated the Bluebirds 2-1 at Adams Park.
In the club’s final game of an incredible year, goals from Ryan Tafazolli and David Wheeler secured Ainsworth’s men their first win since the start of November, when they defeated Birmingham City at St Andrew’s by the same score line.
During the match against the Welsh side, the visitors lost their centre-back and captain Sean Morrison to injury after 20 minutes which Wycombe capitalised on, as both of the Chairboys’ goals came from headers.
Ainsworth said: “Morrison is a great player and when he came off, it probably went in our favour.
“The lad that came on, Benkovic, I don’t think has played much this season and I think he was getting up to speed and I thought Ikpeazu, in his first start, probably got the better of him in that battle.
“But Cardiff have got some good players.
“Hoilett and Murphy came off the bench and Sol Bamba isn’t even in the squad.
“They have got some top players and they are a good side, so this is a great win for us.”
Up next for Wycombe is Middlesbrough, who are now managed by promotion expert Neil Warnock.
He continued: “He [Warnock] is a man that I have a lot of respect for.

“His management career is unbelievable and what a phenomenal manager he is.
“It will be tough against him, but Cardiff was tough too.
“We have performed really well in recent weeks and I am glad we got something tonight.
“We have got to continue this type of performance and the results will come.”
