Millwall manager Gary Rowett described Wycombe’s performance against his side as ‘tenacious’ after they defeated Gareth Ainsworth’s men 2-1 at Adams Park.
The Chairboys took the lead through Scott Kashket in the ninth minute after a horrendous mistake from goalkeeper Bart Bialkowski, which saw the striker close down the Polish international and force the ball into the net.
But second-half goals from a Jed Wallace penalty and a strike from Ryan Leonard saw the south London club head back to the capital with all three points.
The defeat leaves Wycombe in 23rd position and if it wasn’t for Sheffield Wednesday’s 12-point deduction at the start of the season, the Chairboys would be bottom of the second tier.
Speaking after the game, Rowett said: “I was disappointed with the first-half, particularly to concede the way that we did and give a very tenacious Wycombe side a little bit of a lifeline.

“It was something to scrap for which they did really well.
“Their goalkeeper took ages taking kicks and it is what you do.

“We would have done that if we were 1-0 up, so it made the first-half very frustrating.
“I think we were dragged into a game that suits Wycombe because they are excellent at it.

“It’s why they got promoted and they’re a side that do not have the budget in this division, so they'll fight for everything and they'll get results.
“I said to Gareth that he should be proud of his team as they will get results.”
The return fixture against Wycombe and Millwall will be in February at the Den, but up next for the Chairboys is an away trip to Reading on October 20.
