Wycombe striker Adebayo Akinfenwa has been given the invitation of a lifetime after the Chairboys were promoted to the Championship on Monday night.
Gareth Ainsworth’s men defeated Oxford United 2-1 at Wembley, which meant Wycombe will be playing Championship football for the first time in their history next season.

After the final whistle, the ‘Beast’ received thousands of messages on social media, but one stood out from the rest, as Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp personally called the striker on WhatsApp to congratulate the 38-year-old.

Bayo, a lifelong Liverpool fan, said to the German that they’ll ‘celebrate together’, before getting a Twitter notification he’d never expect.
The current Premier League champions tweeted the striker and said: “@daRealAkinfenwa has an invitation to our future Premier League title parade after Klopp fulfilled his request for a congratulatory WhatsApp message.”

The tweet went viral on the site with Akinfenwa replying with: “This is getting silly now, I’m smiling like a grown kid.”
Liverpool players such as captain Jordan Henderson and Virgil van Dyke also sent their well wishes as well as former goalkeeper Pepe Reina, who is currently at Aston Villa.
