Wycombe couldn’t make two wins from two as second-half goals from Rhys Healy and Ben Gladwin saw the Chairboys lose the Buckinghamshire derby 2-0 away at MK Dons 2-0.

In a first-half of few chances, Joe Jacobson had the game’s first chance of great note as he fired over from 30-yards after 15 minutes.

Both teams started to grow slowly as the game progressed, but it was Wycombe who were the better side as they started to show why they fighting for promotion.

Five minutes before the break, Curtis Thompson saw his shot fly across the box, which was flicked towards goal by Alex Samuel from six-yards.

Samuel, who scored his first league goal of the season against Blackpool midweek, saw his eyes light up as the ball started to loop towards the goal, but Lee Nicholls was on hand to tip it over the bar.                                                                        Moments later, Wycombe had another chance to take the lead but David Wheeler, who spent six-months on loan at MK Dons a year ago, saw his header easily gathered by Nicholls.

And right on the stroke of half-time, Wycombe had a scare when David Stockdale, who was nothing but a spectator for most of the first-half, was called into action where he got down brilliant to deny Carlton Morris from 18-yards.

Stockdale parried the shot to Sam Nombe who fired in from six-yards, but thankfully, the striker was flagged for offside.

It would’ve have been incredibly harsh for Wycombe to go into the break 1-0 down, after they had dominated large parts of the opening 45 minutes.

However, MK Dons were a different team in the second-half as Wycombe struggled to break the Dons defence down George Williams and Jordan Houghton acted as a brick-wall to stop any Wycombe attack.

And Wycombe were lucky not to fall behind in the 65th minute when David Stockdale produced a brilliant save to deny George Williams

The 34-year-old, who is currently on loan from Birmingham, got down low to deny the defender from two-yards.

The save was that good that many Dons fans got on their feet to applaud Stockdale’s brilliance.

However, just three minutes later, MK took the lead after Rhys Healy tapped in from four-yards.

Wycombe rarely threatened during a poor second-half from their standards with Nicholls not having to make a save during the second 45-minutes.

And the game was wrapped up when substitute Ben Gladwin, who had only been on the pitch for six minutes, bent in a wonderful curling effort from 25-yards.

It was Gladwin’s first goal for the club since moving from Blackburn in January.

Josh Parker had Wycome’s best effort in the second-half when his free-kick from 25-yards hit the side netting in stoppage time.

Despite the defeat, Wycombe stay in the top two.
