Scott Kashket struck twice in a man of the match performance as Wycombe produced an unbelievable comeback against Southend at Adams Park, writes Oliver White.
Wycombe trailed 2-0 and 3-1 before equalising in the 89th minute and grabbing the winner through Kashket in the 92nd.
Kashket was handed his first start of the season and says he’s loving being involved and in amongst the goals. He even has an eye on top goal scorer this season.
He commented: “I like to base my game around goals, getting in the right positions, and always backing myself to score, getting two today, I’m very happy about that.
"I hadn’t played many minutes in the league before now, so today was also about letting the gaffer know I’m here and ready to play.
“Finishing top goal scorer is always my plan and I will always back myself, but I’m not going to get carried away just yet."
The 23-year-old also praised the togetherness of the squad, he added: “At Wycombe we’ve only got one team and that’s the first team, so we have to be really tight together day by day, everyone gets on so well.
“We’re a team, everyone’s got each other’s backs, as fans you can see how close we are on the pitch and we’re exactly the same like that off the pitch as well.
“Because of this we always believed we could turn it round, even when it went 3-3 we wanted the ball back as we wanted and knew we could get another.”
Wycombe and Kashket travel to AFC Wimbledon next weekend hoping to continue their unbeaten start in the league.
