WASPS are back in the LV=Cup hunt after a bonus point victory over London Irish at Adams Park yesterday.
After picking up two points in defeat at Sale, they are now on seven points from two games, just two adrift of Pool Three leaders Leicester.
Wasps were actually behind Irish at half time, but overpowered their guests in the second period to take a convincing victory.
Wasps coach Stephen Jones said: “I thought we played quite well in the first half but the scoreboard didn’t reflect how well we played.
“The comeback shows the character of the squad and their committment to each other.
“All week the energy and commitment the boys gave us at training was superb. There was a lot of enthusiasm and excitement about this game and you could see that out there on the pitch.
“We were conscious we were going to be in an arm-wrestle and we were, but we kept to our patterns and beliefs and came out on top.”
The bonus point only came in the final play of the game though, when Man of the Match Alex Lozowski led a break out from inside his own 22 that ended with Elliot Daly sliding over in the corner.
Jones said: “For us to get the bonus point, we’re delighted. It keeps us alive in the competition. We’re ambitious and that final score was key for us.”
