ELLIOT Daly had an eventful afternoon yesterday, playing three positions in 40 minutes for Wasps and knocking over a 60m penalty for good measure.
He started out at full back but an injury to Ben Jacobs saw him move to outside centre midway through the first half of Wasps' 32-12 win over Grenoble.
He’d barely joined the line though, when scrum half Jack Moates had to hobble off with injury.
With neither Joe Simpson or Charlie Davies on the bench, Wasps were without a natural replacement so step foward again Mr Daly.
Director of rugby Dai Young said: “He’s one of these players...he’s a victim of his own versatility. He’s played 15, wing, 13, scrum half...
“We were down to the bare bones this week with 22 training. We tried him and Tommy Bell at scrum half and he was more comfortable.
“But a player of that quality, he’s probably played everywhere. He’s so good that if you have injuries you’re going to move him about.”
He’s not expected to be Wasps’ emergency scrum half this weekend though.
Young said: “We’re hoping Charlie and Joe will be fit. But outside of the Amlin, if we have got injuries we can look to try and loan someone.”
