Parliament is now back following the Summer Recess – but as ever, after a brief family holiday in Cornwall, I spent the bulk of recess out and about in the constituency.

The highlight of the Summer was the second running of my Summer Bucks Landy Tour. The idea of this tour is to make myself as accessible as possible to constituents to raise issues of local or national concern with me in a less formal setting than my regular appointment based help and advice surgeries.  With a 336 square mile, rural constituency, I could think of no better icon of our countryside than a classic Land Rover – which I ran on entirely synthetic fuel from P1 Fuels – with the comfort of the bench seats in the back as a mobile office.

I completed 22 stops over six days and it was a pleasure to chat to so many constituents about a range of issues from planning policy to potholes; SEND provision to GP access; home to school transport to foreign affairs.  Contrary to popular belief, politicians don’t learn things by some weird form of osmosis, so I really value these conversations to ensure I am in tune with what Mid Buckinghamshire residents are thinking and concerned about.

The rest of the summer included meetings with Parish Councils, community groups, churches, businesses and more. As well as attending first rate events like the Bucks County Show, Wendover Picnic in the Park, Dinton Beer Festival and the 40th Anniversary celebrations of Abbeyfield House in Great Missenden.  If there is an event you would like me to attend, please do let me know and I will endeavour to be there!

Looking to the next few months, I will be holding more regular surgeries in Princes Risborough, Naphill, Stokenchurch and Grendon Underwood; as well as more of my “Pint of View” pub drop ins which will be announced on my website and social media channels shortly. If any constituent needs my help or wants to raise and issue with me, then please do get in contact – greg.smith.mp@parliament.uk. I am here to help!
