Normally I write my edition of Letters from Westminster in Westminster, yet today I am unexpectedly in my home in Chearsley, here in the Mid Buckinghamshire constituency as the General Election has been called by the Prime Minister.
Being home and spending time with family and taking my children to school is an unexpected treat before I spend the days and evenings talking to my fellow local residents. One of the major issues is the railways in particular timetables and over crowding.
I am proud of my record in holding Chiltern Railways and the Department for Transport to account over what has at times been a dismal performance in recent years. I have experienced the daily misery for myself as a frequent user of Haddenham & Thame Parkway station. That is why I have pushed hard for new rolling stock to replace Chiltern’s ageing fleet of diesel trains, for which Chiltern have a plan in to deliver – and if I am elected on 4th July will continue to push for this. And in the most recent timetable change I have secured a new rush hour service to/from Princes Risborough on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, as well as a new daily morning peak service from Haddenham to London. A vote for me will mean the continuation of my hard work to get you the train service you deserve.
