Phil is the caretaker at Stony Dean School who helps sort out projects to help make the school a better place for us to learn. He makes the school a fun and a good educational environment for pupils. I interviewed him to find out more about him and his role.
How do you find being a caretaker of Stony Dean?
“It’s a really good job. I enjoy working here. It keeps me busy and I enjoy being with staff and the pupils.”
What is it like being a care taker?
“I enjoy it because everyday is a different day as I do different jobs.”
What’s your favorite and least favorite jobs?
“My least favorite job is when someone is sick so I have to clean it but the job has to be done. My favorite job is when I repair things so they can work again”
What was your first job?
“I was a landscape gardener. I did it for about 15 years. I started doing it after I left school.”
What is your schedule like? For example, is it long hours/do you get less holidays?
“I get 28 day holidays, so it’s basically like a standard job. My work days are long but it’s split up. I do job’s in the morning and I work during school hours. I take a few hours off and come back in the evening.”
Phil is a very hard worker who does amazing things for this school. He is determined to help change the school into a fun and educational place. He has done some amazing work for this school and our community. I’m sure I speak for everyone when I say thank you to Phil for all his hard work!
