On the weekend, I took a trip to Aylesbury Odeon Luxe to watch Blue Beetle. I thought the cinema was supposed to be fully booked because it was the last showing of the film. But the cinema was actually almost empty. It lives up to the ‘Luxe’ name, as it has leather, reclining seats and a convenient table to hold your drinks and snacks. Compared to other cinemas, there was plenty of space to move around, meaning you don’t have to worry about awkwardly tripping over everyone!
Blue Beetle is a DC film based on an American Superhero called Jamie Reyes, played by Xolo Mariduena. He starts off working as a cleaner but ends up getting fired for getting involved his boss’ family matters. This leads to him getting a job in their main business, where he becomes attached to an alien force that is his protector. At first, the alien force does not listen to Jamie, however by the end they work side by side to become the hero, Blue Beetle.
“The movie was pretty nice but there were some parts that were a bit boring. My favourite scene was also the laser machine gun grandma!” – Orlando Y10 Student
I would recommend this film to people who like action and comedy films because it is full of action and the characters are all very funny. The funniest part of the film is when the grandma who is usually knitting pulls out a laser machine gun and starts shooting the henchmen. A second Blue Beetle film has been confirmed by DC Studios, but unfortunately it is rumored that we will have to wait until at least 2025!
