This is what you have been writing to us about this week.
I was recently a passenger travelling from Handy Cross to the M4 along the A404 and was horrified and saddened by the obscene amount of litter along both sides of the road.
I am unsure which authority has the responsibility for clearing such an unsightly mess – whether it be the Highway Authority or the county councils in Bucks and Berkshire.
Whichever it is, why can’t they use offenders with community service orders to clear this rubbish?
If individual offenders were given their own 500 metres of verge and bank to clear in their own time, and without supervision, it would be simple to check if the job was properly completed and at no cost to anyone.
Can anyone suggest why this cannot be a solution?
