A couple hoping to launch a craft beer business from their family home for ‘delivery only’ will have to wait to see if their new venture gets council approval.
James and Kerry Whewell, of Wendover Beers Ltd, are awaiting the results of an application submitted to Bucks Council for a new premises licence, at 19 Wood Lane, in Wendover.
The proposal is a family-run business selling alcohol online from a small garden building in the back garden of the Wood Lane property, ‘for consumption off the premises’.

Ten objections were received during a 28-day consultation.

Initially the plans were for alcohol sales both on and off site but have since been amended to ‘off-site only’.
After a letter and revised application form was sent out, nine of the ten objectors requested their submissions be withdrawn.
All orders will be delivered by the company director until the need to employ a dedicated driver arises.
The applicant said their aim is to “promote responsible drinking”, adding: “One hundred per cent of the sales activity will be conducted via an e-commerce website.”
The licensing sub-committee will contact interested parties directly with its decision about the licence.
