MARLOW Rugby Club has assured its neighbours it takes their views 'extremely seriously' after complaints about an event held at its site.

There were three official complaints to Wycombe District Council's licensing team, mainly about excessively loud music, on August 20.

Householders were also unhappy about the number of cars along Riverwoods Drive, which they claimed was blocked, and were worried about safety and security on the day.

Chris Brook-Carter, the club's Director of Communications, said: "There were a few more people than we anticipated and we are aware that caused some issues for local residents which we take extremely seriously.

"Marlow Rugby Club is there to serve the local community, that's at the heart of what we do. We are constantly looking to strengthen those ties, so these conversations with the community and particularly our neighbours are important."

The event was run by a third party.

Thames Valley Police spokesman Adam Fisher said: "Police were called about the event at the rugby club by members of the public.

"Officers attended and liaised with security officials throughout the good natured event and there were no issues other than some congestion, but access and exits were kept clear."

Residents claimed noise went on after midnight.

Councillor Audrey Jones, Cabinet Member for Environment, said:"We’ve now met with senior representatives of the club and discussed the causes of concern.

"We have been assured that measures are now in place to help ensure that this problem will not happen again."
