EXTRA police officers will be patrolling the streets of Marlow this weekend after a man was hospitalised following a brawl last week.
Thames Valley Police says the additional officers are there to “reassure the Marlow community” after a six-man scrap in Spittal Street in the early hours of last Sunday morning shocked the town.
Ch Insp Colin Seaton said: “Please don’t feel concerned if you see additional officers in the area this weekend as we will be conducting extra patrols to offer reassurance to the Marlow community.
“The officers will be there to interact and engage with members of the public, so if you have any questions or queries, then please do not hesitate to ask.”
It resulted in a 24-year-old man being initially admitted to Wexham Park Hospital in a serious condition, but police say he is now stable. He was released from hospital today.
Police are continuing their witness appeal to the brawl, with officers keen to speak to a woman who they believe was in the area at the time.
Det Sgt Richard Earl, investigating officer, said: “It was a particularly busy evening and I am sure there are people who saw what happened, and have not yet spoken to the police.
“For us to be able to carry out a thorough investigation, we need anyone with information about the incident, to come forward and speak to us.
“I would also like to appeal directly to a woman called Racquel who I believe could have been in the area at the time and have important information to help with our inquiry.”
