It has in no way been made official (and why would it) and only rumours are flying around that Wycombe Hospital is going to be closed down to only x3 departments.
There seems to be an internal struggle with Stoke Mandeville being the preferred new location for the lost Wycombe Units or this new proposal and very much in the very early stages ‘super hospital’ somewhere near Windsor.
Of course a decision has not been made in regards to which direction – but why oh why can’t we have our own hospital in Wycombe, especially as it’s a large town with a growing population?
My son was one of the last children to be born at Wycombe before they moved the operating theatres to Stoke Mandeville. I think of those poor parents having to make the long trip to either Stoke Mandeville or to Windsor and not everyone has the luxury of owning a car.
Where is our voice in all of this?
Why don’t they listen to us, after all we vote for politicians and we pay our taxes to help pay for these facilities.
It doesn’t seem to matter what we say, how many petitions we sign or protests that we make, it looks for and more likely that we are going to be left with a very small cottage type hospital (the size that would be similar to that of Marlow) or no hospital in 5 or 10 years time.
It would seem that the only hope is that the newly appointed Heath Secretary Jeremy Hunt fights a better game for our corner than the previous Secretary Mr Andrew Lansley.
I would encourage you to write to our MP Steve Baker to help us with the fight of a move or any other candidate standing in the next General Election for High Wycombe.
