My last thoughts on being a Paralympic Games Maker.

When I wrote my final blog at the end of the Olympic Games, any sadness I felt was quickly overshadowed by the excitement of the imminent Paralympics.

Working as a Games Maker at the Paralympic games has been a fulfilling and exciting experience.

My fellow Games Makers compared our first shift to that of our first day at a new school. If I was to use the same analogy then my last thoughts would be of how I felt on my last day at school. Feeling bereft that it was all over and accepting the realisation that we would never be able to recreate those moments ever again.

As my journey closes to an end, I would like to reflect back and thank those that helped make it a once in a lifetime opportunity.

I would like to thank Mark Stuart (Pharmacy Clinical Lead)for his amazing leadership during our Games Maker journey.

Liz Walters and Frances Akinwunmi (Eton Dorney Polyclinic managers) for being so supportive.

All my fellow Games Makers that I had the pleasure to meet and work with.

It’s been a privilege and an honour to work with such a diverse team of athletes, who have indeed ‘inspired a generation’.

This amazing journey could not have been completed without the support of my employers Sainsbury’s. The support that I have received from all my management team has been tremendous. I’ve only been working as a Pharmacy Manager at Sainsbury’s for three years and can’t believe what a wonderful company it is to work for.

My only regret is that I didn’t join them sooner!

I can’t wait to re-join my Pharmacy team who are busy preparing for our next wave of in-store ‘free cholesterol tests’, which will shortly be followed by our flu vaccination service.

Thank you Sainsbury’s for helping me to make my Games Maker dream come to life!
