WILLOW Tree Nursery in Flackwell Heath took up the Olympic Flame and held its own mini-games in an effort to raise money for the Thomas Ball Children’s Cancer Fund. With children and teachers dressing in togas and taking part in race events and fun stalls on August 17, £200 was raised to support the cancer fund.
FIFTEEN volunteers carried out repair and maintenance work at The Meadows School in Wooburn Green earlier this month. The team of workers was provided by software company SAP, in preparation for the school’s 100th anniversary next year.
WOOBURN Park 10k returns on September 9, along with a gentler 3k run for families, and sprint races for younger children. The annual race is organised by Wooburn Park Sports Association and has helped raise £15,000 towards the successful recent refurbishment of the pavilion. See: www.wooburnpark10k.com
BOURNE END Community and Craft Market will welcome old and new customers on Saturday, September 8, with more than 20 stalls offering local and home-made produce and crafts, plus a charity tombola. From 10am – 1pm. You can also enjoy tea, coffee and cake while you chat and relax in the sunny library garden.

FLACKWELL Heath British Legion has a BBQ and music event on Sunday from 11am, with entertainment from The Mike Nelson Sound and guests, plus a bumper raffle. All welcome. On Saturday the Legion has music from solo artist Franz Black.
