A PLETHORA of culinary delights were on display in High Wycombe town centre for an inaugural event to celebrate local food.

The High Street was turned into a foodie’s heaven on Bank Holiday Monday as producers showed off their produce and unveiled their tips of the trade to shoppers during the first ever Wycombe Harvest.

The core criteria of the event was “food from within 30 miles” – meaning the tastes and smells of South Bucks were all on display.

The food showcase organised by the High Wycombe BIDCo was the first step in creating an annual calendar of events for the town centre and strengthening links between the town, businesses and local producers.

BID Development Manager Oliver O’Dell said: “Our first Wycombe Harvest event was a real success.

"The combination of stallholders and our demonstration kitchen proved that an event of this kind can work in High Wycombe.

“We had a good crowd of people attend, many of whom do not visit the town on a regular basis.

“Our stallholders made enough money to encourage them to sign up already for next year and our guest chefs loved cooking for the public.”
