ORGANISERS said Hazlemere Fete will get bigger and better after celebrating another successful year.
Crowds flocked to Hazlemere Community Centre in Rose Avenue on Monday for the 152nd village fete.
A Lancaster Bomber flypast was planned but it had to be cancelled due to the weather.
Co-pilot Squadron Leader Jamie Watson rang organisers personally to apologise and let them know.
Hazlemere Parish Councillor David Thompson said: "It went extremely well. The only thing that didn't work was the flyover because the weather was too bad.
"They did call us and we were able to put it out on the PA system."
But he said the day was very busy and they started the fete in profit, due to advertising fees.
They have not counted up the final monies raised but it will be given to Help for Heroes and a number of community projects.
Cllr Thompson said: "We had a lot of free stuff there. We had a children's entertainer from London. She entertained the small children.
"The parents were amazed it was free."
And he said the fete was very friendly and aimed to bring the village together.
He said: "We are building it up. This is going to get bigger and better. We are getting the hang of it now."
Hazlemere Parish Council ran a competition for five to11 year old’s in the area to “Name the Road” which leads to The Cedar Barn which is currently un-named, causing confusion for visitors to the parish council office.
Each of Hazlemere’s primary schools handed out a combined total of
1500 competition entry forms to their children, inviting them to “name the road” and give their reason for their choice.
The winning entry was sent in by Daniel Hatfield, with “Barn Lane”, which will be adopted as the official road name.
Daniel wins a Nikon 10 Megapixel Digital Camera, Camera case and Memory card. Seven other entrants received a selection of sweets as their runner-up prize. Details of all the prize winners will be posted on the
council’s website www.hazlemereparishcouncil.co.uk .
