BRAVE teenager Chloe Jackson has been hailed as an inspiration by her headteacher for a stunning set of exam results obtained while suffering a rare painful medical condition.
Chloe was in so much pain from her battle with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome she was off school for months and was unable to sit down during some of her exams.
But that didn't stop the 16-year-old from achieving four A*s, three As and two Bs when she picked up her GCSE results at Holmer Green Senior School on Thursday.
Chloe, a keen dancer, was struck down with the rare condition in October. It left her struggling to walk and bald on one side of her head, affecting her confidence and ability to sleep.
But her determination helped her overcome the condition and got her into Sixth Form, where she will study history, psychology, English and Spanish.
She said: "I was really surprised - I wasn't at school for about four or five months so I was surprised I got those results. I was expecting a lot lower.
"It was really difficult to keep myself motivated at home but because I wanted to do well I had to motivate myself.
"I had to stand up for my English and history exams because I was in too much pain to sit down.
"The school were very helpful and accommodating. They tried to make things better for me, like letting me bring in a pillow or a hot water bottle."
Chloe feels she's now over the worst and is hopeful she's well on the way to recovery.
She said: "My medication does is just right at the moment. It's allowing me to do more exercise and helping my joints and mobility. I'm feeling a lot more positive now."
Michael Jones, headteacher at Holmer Green School, said: “I feel so proud of the achievements of so many of our students. I would have to single out the results achieved by Chloe Jackson.
"She attended all her examinations, often in great pain, but with such a strong spirit and determination.
“She is an inspiration to us all. And she didn’t do too badly either achieving 4 A*s, 3 As and 2 Bs – results that would make any young person feel incredibly proud.
"Well done to Chloe and to all our successful GCSE students this year and of course a huge thank you to the staff who gave them such terrific support and nurtured their confidence and abilities so that they were able to achieve so well.”
