TROUBLE flared at Adams Park as angry Bristol Rovers fans demanded refunds after this afternoon's match with Wycombe Wanderers was abandoned.

The game was called off due to health and safety concerns after the stand housing the visiting fans was struck by lightning during a torrential downpour.

Wanderers said in a statement this evening that the stand's proximity to electricity pylons, along with flooding in the area, were key safety factors in calling off the match.

Rovers were 3-1 up at the time of the abandonment and some visiting fans took their frustration out on ticket office staff and advertising hoardings at Adams Park.

Many more have taken to social networking sites to question the decision to abandon the match, while other Rovers supporters criticised fellow Gasheads for causing trouble.

Manager Mark McGhee and his players went over to the visiting fans in a bid to ensure calm.

Wanderers have said that supporters with a ticket stub can obtain either a full refund or a ticket for the rearranged fixture.

Those without ticket stubs were issued with a voucher including a unique code which can be quoted when calling the ticket office to obtain a full refund or a ticket for the rearranged fixture.

Supporters who left their contact details will be contacted by the club on Tuesday.

Anyone who did not retain any part of their ticket or leave their details are not entitled to a refund or a ticket for the rearranged fixture.
