Open letter to Wycombe District Council.

FOLLOWING our recent letter to your department dated 10-05-2012, we understand that Handy Cross Sports Centre held an exhibition on the Taylor Wimpey redevelopment of the RAF base along Daws Hill. The exhibition was something we would very much like to have known about, but seemed to have been left completely in the dark.

However, we understand that councils now hold democratically run referendums. Southampton council is currently actively engaged in having a referendum on a particular issue which will greatly impact upon residents and their neighbourhoods.

It therefore follows that instead of these expensive gently, gently softening-up consultations, which also appear to be poorly broadcasted that a democratically held referendum would save any more waste in time, effort and expense.

EDITOR’s NOTE: WDC said in response to this letter that it promoted the consultation and exhibition by issuing two news releases to media and community news contacts (both also published on its website), notifying the relevant parish council and residents’ associations, emailing 3-400 individuals, sending letters, displaying site notices in the surrounding area and in local libraries, and including an article in its weekly planning bulletin newsletter.
