A LORRY driver died on the M25 this morning after his vehicle collided with a bridge.

The driver, who has not yet been formally identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident was reported at 6.21am on the clockwise section between junctions 15 and 16. It is believed the lorry left the road and collided with a bridge.

Two lanes were closed to traffic to allow recovery work and investigations to take place, leading to queuing traffic on the M40 and A40 in Bucks and on the M25 back as far as Surrey.

Police have made an appeal for witnesses to the accident to contact them on 101.
