PLANS to build two new homes in Wooburn Green have again been rejected by a council - because they would “compromise” future use of a former railway line. Gerhardt Consulting Ltd’s proposal for land behind 149 Wycombe Lane was refused by Wycombe District Council, which said former rail route between Wycombe and Maidenhead was "safeguarded". A previous scheme to build homes on the land was also rejected last year.

A LANDLORD will hope it is sixth time lucky when it comes to the latest planning application for Chequers Inn pub in Wooburn Common. The pub had a fifth extension plan rejected by councillors earlier this year, despite planning officers recommending it should be approved. The latest proposal also seeks to build 13 new letting rooms at the Kiln Lane site, but the application adds: “A design review has been undertaken of the hotel extension to create a more sympathetic design solution that sits well in its context with the existing Chequer’s Inn and with the local environment.”
