It seems that Marlow’s many sports clubs are shy in coming forward.

With the hype of the Olympics and the fantastic results Team GB have achieved you would think that all our sports clubs and senior schools would be more than happy to promote their champions and their sport.

But of the sports clubs from which I could identify a contact and have written to last month, only ONE has contacted me.

You may ask – Why should they? Well the plan is for the Marlow Museum in Court Garden to mount an exhibition of Marlow’s Sporting Champions; Olympians, National and International winners (one nominee from each club) plus names of top class officials, coaches, etc, together with pictures and the story of the chosen athletes. We have teamed up with the ‘Our Sporting Life’ national campaign and hope to open in September (2012).

At the moment it looks as if the whole display will feature only ONE club. So come on Marlow Sports Clubs, get thinking about who you feel deserves the honour of representing your club.

Who are those members, young or senior, male and/or female? Speak to them for their permission and their story, then contact me. We have blank display boards for photos and empty display cases for memorabilia that need to be filled in the next few weeks.
