PHONE lines at Buckinghamshire New University have been seeing heavy action today as students scramble for Clearing vacancies after finding out their A-Level results.
Bob Cozens, deputy director of student experience at BNU, described call activity as “getting busier by the hour” as students who did not get what they wanted this morning evaluate their position and do their research.
He said: “Several hundred course places are available but we cannot give exact numbers until all applicants have been confirmed. “We’ve had enquiries across all courses, but have not noticed any significant trends yet, although business management and finance courses are in high demand.
“It is not as busy as last year, but in line with this year’s pattern of applicants considering at length and making more informed decisions.
“We have been very impressed so far with the quality of Clearing applicants, noticing an increase in the quality of informed questions and research they have prepared before calling.”
Experienced advisory staff are manning BNU’s Clearing hotline, 0800 0565 660, open 8am-8pm today (Thursday August 16), 8am-7pm on Friday 17, and 9am-3pm on Saturday 18.
