POLICE are appealing for information about a vehicle they believe was used in an armed robbery in Surrey.

Thames Valley Police has issued an appeal today on behalf of officers in Guildford – who are investigating an armed robbery at a jewellery shop on Friday afternoon.

Officers are appealing to members of the public to help trace a silver Mercedes C180 saloon with the registration number LR52 LZF.

Investigating officer Detective Constable David Pellatt of Guildford CID, said: “The vehicle may have travelled out of the Surrey area following the incident and I would urge anyone who either saw it around the time of the incident or who has seen it since to make contact with officers.

“This was a frightening ordeal for staff at the jewellery store and we are doing all we can to find those responsible for this appalling act and to bring them to justice.”

The incident took place at the Cry for the Moon jewellers in Tunsgate at about 3pm when two men entered the store and pushed a member of staff to the ground before threatening him with what was believed to be a firearm. 

The first offender was described as a white man, aged between 40 and 45-years-old, around 5ft 6ins in height, slightly overweight, clean shaven.

It is believed he had missing teeth and may have had a tattoo or marking on his right arm. He was wearing a black baseball cap, a short sleeved dark t-shirt and black rimmed glasses.

The second offender was described as a white man, over 6ft tall, aged 40 to 45-years-old, of medium build and was clean shaven. He was wearing a light coloured dirty cap, brown shorts and dirty trainers.

The driver of the car who did not enter the store was described as a white woman, of medium build and with auburn or light brown hair.

Officers have been carrying out enquiries and reassurance visits in the local area and would urge anyone who may have seen the vehicle or know who is responsible for the robbery to contact them on 101 quoting reference GD/12/7360.
