AN elderly woman is in a serious condition in hospital after a ‘horrific crash’ in Flackwell Heath.
The woman, who is believed to be 70, was airlifted to John Radcliffe Hospital after the collision between a silver BMW and a blue Volvo in Swains Lane at 2.56pm on Sunday.
Crews from Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue had to cut the roof off the Volvo to release the female passenger and male driver.
The driver and a child, who was sitting in the back seat, were also taken to hospital.
Swains Lane was cordoned off between Ammerslee Pet Supplies and the top of Treadaway Hill for a number of hours while the emergency services attended and investigated the scene.
Residents said the bang from the collision “would have been heard by everyone in Flackwell Heath”.
Witness Robin Sturrock said: “The three people in Volvo were the grandparents of the girl in the back, who was about six years old.
"She came out unscathed but the people in the front did not. It’s terrible.”
The driver of the BMW has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, police said.
