SAINSBURY’s will open its new Flackwell Heath store on Wednesday – with the firm saying 20 new jobs have been created.
Dozens of villagers had opposed plans for the supermarket chain to move into the site of the Green Man pub on Straight Bit, fearing other shops would be forced to close (See related links).
But Sainsbury’s bosses will hope to dispel any negative feelings and have invited volunteers from Flackwell Heath Community Library to open the store.
Manager Mark Hussein, who grew up in High Wycombe, said he is looking forward to being part of the village community.
The store will include fresh and frozen produce, alcohol, lottery and an ATM.
