A BICYCLE shop is already reaping the benefits of Team GB's incredible cycling success, its manager says.

Sales are up at Saddle Safari in Crown Lane, Marlow, as is general interest, following the enormous medal haul at the Olympic velodrome.

Nine medals have been won by British cyclists on the track, while another three were won on the road, with eight golds in total.

Mark Wright, Shop Manager, said: "We have noticed more customers visiting the shop which has created greater sales, and most have been passing very positive comments on the cycling successes in the games.

"I believe that as cycling is very much the buzz word of the moment, more people will take up or return to cycling.

"As a sport I believe more people will get involved which means hopefully more facilities, whether specific sporting tracks/arenas or just cycle paths/facilities at a family level."

Mr Wright, 46, from Stokenchurch, said Sir Chris Hoy, who took his sixth gold medal and Tour de France winner Bradley Wiggins, who won the time Olympic time trial, were his stand out performers.

" Everyone has done extremely well but as a standout for me it has to be those two, who have performed consistently over several games and as household names help raise the profile of road cycling," he said.
