Most people over-indulge on holiday, it’s what they are for!

Here I’ll tell you how to get back in shape when you land back on our rainy shores.

It’s hard to break out of the bad habits of eating junk food, including the sugary ice creams and cool fizzy drinks, but first things first – take the plunge and start eating healthy again as soon as possible. The other issue is that holidays can make us all extremely lazy – all day lying on the beach – and it can continue back home.

But it doesn’t have to be difficult. Although vacations usually go hand in hand with cocktails and beer – just cutting out booze will make a major difference to the waistline.

Although many people panic and splurge on an expensive gym membership, it isn’t essential to do that to make vital changes.

Simple (and free) exercise, like walking will shift the pounds: September and October can be the best months for weather in this country so take advantage of it.

Try working-out outside. You can have a great session in a park, stepping up on benches, doing press ups, tricep dips, lunges and crunches followed by a lap of the park – even if you can only manage a slow jog. And take a friend to spur you on.

Join a bootcamp or running club if you fancy exercising outside and don’t feel you can do it on your own – or if you need extra motivation to go. Although the exercise is a good start, it doesn’t work if you don’t eat healthy too.

Try cutting out the bread, pasta, fizzy drinks, alcohol, naughty snacks, processed foods and eat healthy, simple foods.

Try upping your fruit and veg intake to more than five a day, eat good quality chicken, turkey and fish.

Try snacking on seeds, nuts and fruit and drink plenty of water, around two to three litres a day.

It sounds boring but when you look in the mirror and see a new you, it will be worth every ounce of effort... And you’ll be bikini-ready, or beach-shorts ready, for your next holiday!

And while you’re away...

YOU’RE at an all-inclusive and it’s rammed with free booze and food – what do you do?
Firstly, try to stay off the alcohol at lunchtime as this often leads to an all day drinking session. Leave it until the evening.

Of course, make the most of the delicious dishes but always keep in mind you’ll be wearing an unforgiving bikini, or shorts for two weeks.

Drink lots of water and eat well, but keep it sensible, as this will also improve the complexion of your sun-tanned face and, quite often the appearance of cellulite.

Fresh fish is often available so choose this for your plate, along with a big salad or vegetables.
A beach is the perfect place to get running or even to take a long walk, which is excellent for burning calories.

Lastly, if you’re feeling up to it try doing two sets of 20 squats, press ups and crunches every morning.

Not only will it help burn off calories, it will also give your muscles a pump so you look great on
the beach!
