A FUNDRAISING day in memory of a Beacons Bottom man is only the beginning, his daughter said. Being Len's Friend was held at Longburrow Hall in Stokenchurch on Saturday in memory of Julia Walters' dad, Len Reeve.
He died from ideopathic pulmorary fibrosis of the lung (IPS) in March, aged 84. Julia organised a day of entertainment including a six-a-side football tournament, stalls and a disco to raise money for the British Lung Foundation.
She said: "Being Len's Friend is the start of something.
"The friends who came forward were absolutely amazing. It was quite emotional. "They all came out. They knew how close me and my dad were."
She said she hopes to hit the £1,000 mark but will hold it next year in either May or September next year.
Julia thanked Jamie Essex who organised the football tournament and said she couldn't have organised the day if it wasn't for him.
