Jobs for the boys - Police and Crime Commissioner

The reason for this was that I was going to consider to throw my name in a hat and see if as an Independent candidate what my chances were for a fair election.

Unfortunately when I looked further into things, I saw that there was a maximum budget allocation for around £200,000 for the election.

This in my mind seems as if you are either: - Very wealthy - Or endorsed by one of the major x3 political parties That you will have a very healthy fight and advantage in the elections, over everyone else looking to stand.

mmMMmmmm… so as very similar to anyone that doesn’t fit into the very same criteria above – wishing to stand to be an MP for their home-town..

In fact I would go further and say that even a wealthy person wouldn’t fair much chance in standing as an independent in trying to become an Member of Parliament (see Disraeli’s first attempt to become an MP!) The truth is that the x3 political parties (that in my mind all seem to have very similar policies and trying to woo the middle ground voters) hold power over the rest of us when it comes to politics.

The ruling elite from both the Labour and Conservative parties do not want to make any changes because it would look to take power away from them – even if they both only had a combination of 2 party members for each party they would still fight to keep things as they are. I do give credit for the LibDems for fighting for change (but you wonder if they are doing it as trying to get advantage for themselves..or for a better democracy??) Power and control.

Jobs for the boys. If I were a betting man I would predict that we would have a “Conservative” backed newly elected police commissioner for our Thames Valley area.

Also at the next National Election, we would continue to have a Conservative Member of Parliament for High Wycombe and the surrounding area’s (other than multicultural next door neighbours Slough) The main parties have the funding and the manpower and the brand.

Unless there was a massive change in circumstances, this would always be the way that things are going to be done. Who says that we live in a democracy??

We don’t.

So this newly formed ‘people powered’ position isn’t really that – it would be a party faithful who is controlled by the Conservative party (i.e. a safe pair of hands) So hence “Job for the boys”.

The same exact thing would happen for any Labour voting area – a former MP or Labour party faithful man/woman would be elected in that part of the world.

I could be wrong.

I could and I wish that I were.
