No, not that 'buca'. This is the British Universities' Chess Association, whose annual championship will take place this weekend (Feb 25/26) at the Uplands House hotel in High Wycombe. Come down and see the action for yourself.
Top seeds are Edinburgh, followed by Warwick and Cambridge. Reigning champions Oxford are 5th seeds while I'll be representing UCL, seeded 8th of the 19 entrants. The highest rated player due to play at BUCA is Ameet Ghasi of BPP who, with a rating of 245, is ranked 8th in the country.
If you can't make it down in person, you can follow @bucachess for live updates. In addition, www.buca.org.uk will be reguarly updated with news from the championship.
