A 32-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested in connection with the ‘unexplained’ death of a Polish man found in Wooburn Common.
The body found off Green Common Lane on Saturday has now been formally identified as Ryszard Karpuc, 44, from West Ealing in London.
Detective Superintendent Rob Mason, leading the investigation, said: “I would like to stress that although a man has been arrested, we are keeping an open mind as to the circumstances of the death.”
The man who has been arrested is from West London, and is currently in police custody.
South Bucks Chief Inspector Kate Ford said: “Any unexplained death is rigorously investigated and I would like to reassure people that such an event is very rare.
“Anyone with any knowledge that may assist this investigation should contact the police on the non emergency number 101 or, if they prefer, the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
* The incident has brought back memories of 23-year-old Polish woman Beata Bryl, whose burnt body was found nearby in Sheepcote Woods, Wooburn Common, in 2006.
Police believed she was killed elsewhere after discovering she suffered 22 separate injuries to her head (see link below).
Her killers have never been brought to justice despite a nationwide appeal and a £25,000 reward being offered for information.
There is nothing to suggest the two incidents are linked.
