THIRTY firefighters were called to Pinewood Studios after a fire broke out in a catering lorry for the new James Bond film.

Watch Manager Denis Melia, from Gerrards Cross Fire Station, headed up six crews of officers who prevented the fire from causing serious damage to a film studio at the Iver Heath site.

He said after the incident on Friday night: "It was discovered by on-site security staff, who promptly raised the alarm.

"The lorry was well alight, with flames reaching the top of the adjacent building.

"Crews from Gerrards Cross and Slough used a hose reel and main jet to tackle the fire, which was now spreading to the roof of the building, and to cool four LPG cylinders that were attached to the vehicle.

"These two crews from different brigades worked together very effectively to prevent the roof from becoming fully involved and the incident from becoming much more serious."

The initial call came at 9.59pm, and the last crew left the scene at about 1am.

The catering lorry was being used to feed the cast and crew of new James Bond film Skyfall, which is due to be released in October.
