TWO people have been arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery after a man was threatened as he walked home from work.

A man was approached by two teenagers who demanded he hand over his money and phone to them by the Beechwood flats at 10.50pm last night, police said.

But, as the teenagers moved in, a silver car – which police believe could have been a taxi – drove along the road and the attackers ran off.

Nothing was stolen in the incident and the man was uninjured.

Det Con Gemma Howe, investigating the incident, said: “It is possible that there was a third man involved and I am keen to speak to anyone who might have some information to help us with our enquiries.

“I am also keen to hear from the driver of the silver vehicle as they might have seen the people in the area acting suspiciously.

“Following an increase in the number of robberies in the area I would also like to take this opportunity to remind people to keep belongings out of site and it also a good idea to mark your property so that if it is stolen and recovered we identify who it belongs to.”

Contact police on 101 with any information or, if you do not want to speak to police, call the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
