THE Olympic torch relay is set to pass through South Bucks after all - with Burnham being added to the official route.
The district is hosting the 2012 rowing events at Dorney Lake - but was snubbed by organisers when the route was first announced.
South Bucks District Council had still been hoping for a separate photocall visit - but Councillor Anita Cranmer appears to have persuaded the organisers to reconsider.
The relay will now take a slight detour between Slough and Maidenhead. It will also go through Bisham, Stoke Mandeville and Aylesbury.
Cllr Cranmer, cabinet member for community, said: “This announcement provides another fantastic opportunity for local people to be part of this incredible event.
“Since they announced that the Games were coming to London and that Dorney Lake would be a venue, the council has worked closely with local schools, businesses, clubs and groups to try and bring the magic of the Games right into the community.”
The flame is due to pass through Burnham on July 10.
