A CHARITY is calling on budding young dancers to head to Beaconsfield in March for the heats of a national competition.
The ‘Dance: Make Your Move’ contest, organised by the Red Cross, asks youngsters to choreograph a dance routine to reflect an aspect of the charity’s life-saving work.
It is open to dancers of all abilities under the age of 18, with schools, dance groups and youth clubs all invited to get involved. The dance routines should be between three and eight minutes long.
There will be junior and senior categories, and groups who win the heats will perform at an area final at The Radley College in July. The winners will then go through to the national final at the O2 centre in London’s Docklands.
Groups are asked to raise at least £50 for the Red Cross.
Fundraiser Sharon Cooper said: “By taking part...you could join the 20,000 young performers from across the country who have already come together to do something amazing for charity and celebrate the work of the Red Cross through dance.
“Since 2006 we have raised £300,000, and this year we hope to raise even more money for vulnerable people in crisis in the UK and overseas.”
The Buckinghamshire heats take place at The Beaconsfield School on March 3 and 17. To find out more visit: www.redcross.org.uk/dance or call 01296 739309.
