RE: The furore over parking fines in the car park at Sainsbury’s, Marlow, when drivers were penalised by the council for displaying the incorrect part of the ticket.
I WISH to refer to the letter from Margaret Pike published in the January 13 edition in which she described her experiences when parking in the new car park adjacent to Sainsbury’s in Marlow.
She was clearly treated quite unfairly by Wycombe District Council who refused to accept her appeal that it was their inefficiency that was responsible for her parking ticket.
I had precisely the same experience and an equally cavalier rejection of my appeal against the penalty charge. I was furthermore told that if I wished to make a further appeal and that proved unsuccessful (as it no doubt would) the penalty charge would double!
This attitude seems inappropriate in an organisation serving and paid for by the public.

* I HAD a similar experience on my first visit to Sainsbury’s car park in Maidenhead a couple of years ago when I displayed the wrong part of the ticket. I followed through with the appeals process and the fine was cancelled. It’s a tough lesson but you don’t make the same mistake twice!
