EARLY last week amidst a mirage of an oasis of Economic Salvation, a need for HS2 was agreed by our hallucinating Government and opposition.
In coming to this decision, the Prime Minister allowed a 250mph railway line to demolish his plans for ‘The Big Society and Localism’, and he now has a costly battle on his hands. Localism will turn against him.
Is it not ironic that a couple of days later we hear that the previous leader of Bucks County Council (Cllr David Shakespeare) is to become a member of Wycombe District Council’s Cabinet as Member for The Big Society and Localism, presumably with an appropriate forward looking budget?
As the words go in the song by Madness, Welcome to the House of Fun.
