AS a parent with children at Sir William Borlase’s Grammar School (who walk to school) I am both dismayed and irritated by Derek Done’s comments (Re: ‘Stop these pupils from parking in our roads’) about parking in Harwood Road, Marlow.
Mr Done seems to take the view that he considers Harwood Road to be a private road and that pupils should be outlawed from parking there.
He should, however, accept that as a public highway anyone is entitled to park there, subject to any marked parking restrictions. Buying a home close to the town centre and a school will always attract daytime parking and most, if not all, the houses in Harwood Road have their own private driveways. Of course, one would expect any driver to park considerately, but for a resident to publicly complain about legal parking and then to link it to Borlase’s pupils is both irresponsible and unfair.
